  • Microsoft Word and Excel 2003 - The application utilizes both Excel and Word in the performance of certain of its functions. Therefore, Microsoft Word and Excel need to be installed on each workstation, if running fat clients, or the server if running thin clients. Microsoft offers FREE view only versions of these products. For any workstation performing document design using the Word integration feature of the application, the full function version of Microsoft Word 2003 must be installed. The appropriate versions of Microsoft Word and Excel are to be provided, installed, and maintained by a vendor of the client’s choosing and at client’s expense.
  • Properly functioning client/server network that meets the following minimum specifications:

Special considerations - The MedTrak application is a .Net application and, as such, requires an operating environment that supports .Net framework. Also, by its nature, it is a transaction centric application which means there is a high level of I/O. However, most of the individual records are relatively small in size.

Server – Pentium III or better with 1.0GB RAM and 60GB Drive (Mirrored recommended). Operating system – Windows 2000 server or better; .Net framework with the latest service pack; and WinZip file compression program. SCSI hard drives are recommended. The server specifications, including memory, will need to be adjusted based on the manner of use and the number and type of applications that are being supported by the server. For instance, if the server is supporting a thin client environment, such as Terminal Services, then the server needs to be configured accordingly.

Workstation – Pentium III or better with 512MB RAM. Operating system – Windows 2000 professional or better. The application supports both fat and thin client operation. If the workstations will be operated as fat clients then each station needs the .Net framework 1.1 with the latest service pack and MDAC 2.6 or greater.

Display screens – At least a 15” and 1024 x 768 resolution. Bigger is better.

Printers – Laser printers with letter and legal trays.

Network to be provided, installed, and maintained by vendor of client’s choosing and at client’s expense. Note: Dumb terminals and serial connectivity will not work.
